Here is how you would create a 3D PDF (as shown in the video above)
We’re going to take you through the 3D PDF export tool that you’ll find inside AViCAD Plus. The Plus version is not the demo version, which is the one on the website.
It’s our free 30-day trial. So keep that in mind.
In the video above, we are looking at the PDF we just opened it after saving it, but let me show you what we did before this.
I’m in the add-on pull-down menu here. Select the PDF 3D tool here. You’ll get this dialogue, and then you’ll get a button to create the PDF. It’s as easy as that. Just make sure that you’re in the file that you want to create the PDF with.
Also, ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader, or this will not work. Acrobat Reader is a free tool that you can download just by clicking this link here in the tool itself.
Creating a 3D PDF allows you to view it in any direction
After you’ve created the PDF, go to your desktop or your downloads folder, double-click it, and open it up. You’ll see an interface, as shown in the video above.
In the upper window, after clicking on the tree tool, you’ll get the layers listed in your model that you can turn off and on. As well you’ll have this other window here for creating views. T
The views are a way to create a walk-through and a great way for your client to view the model the way you want them to. We have eight views created here in the video.
We’re viewing the mechanical over the hallway. In this view, we’re looking down the other way. And in this view, we’re turning around and looking into the store. As you can see, it’s movie-like and very animated, a great way to present your project.
Creating 3D views in a PDF
Let me quickly show you how you would create a view. So, if we wanted to look up into the ceiling area above, we click on this spin/orbit tool here, and then we hold our button down and look up.
As soon as we are happy with the view that we want to save, browse to the comment icon. You create a comment and enter your comment.
Once you put your comment in, it auto-creates a view for you, as shown in the snapshot. For example, it has created comment number nine.
We can see the comment itself if we click on this little arrow. We can click on that. And if you want to eliminate it, it will leave the saved view behind.
Now, when we go from view seven, which is this view, to view nine, we’re essentially just looking up at the ceiling in our animation.
The 3D PDF tool can be used in many ways. This gives you one example of how you might use it. But as you can see it would be perfect for a meeting or a demonstration of your project.
I hope this has been helpful to you.
